study questions:
For the Next Lesson – Genesis 45:1-15
- Read verses 1-3. Why could Joseph “not control himself” (see Genesis 44:30-34)? What emotions do you think Joseph was experiencing? What did Joseph say? How did his brothers respond? As you consider this scene, how would you describe it in your own words?
- Read verses 4-8. How did Joseph encourage his brothers? What did Joseph believe about God and His involvement in all the good and bad events in his life? Take some time to consider the ups and downs of your life. How can you see the loving, sovereign, providential hand of God in your life? Take some time in prayer to thank God for all He has done in you, for you and through you.
- Read verses 9-13. What do you learn about Joseph’s heart and his character from these verses? What was Joseph’s attitude toward his Father and his family? Do you have the same concern and heart for your family and for loving others? How so? How would you like to grow in this area?
- Read verses 14-15. How would you describe the emotions and interactions in these verses? What do you think the brothers talked about?
- So what. What can you take away from these verses that applies to your life right now? In what way do you need to apply this to your life?
