Living a hope filled life.
SERMON NOTES:

Ecclesiastes 9:1-18

We all face the reality of death… (1-3)

…But hope provides a satisfying life.

Hope is available to all. (4-6)

Hope frees you to make the most of your life. (7-10)

Hope is easily stolen by our unpredictable lives. (11-12)

Living with hope gives God glory. (13-18)

study questions:

1. Read verses 1-3. What do you learn about life from these verses? How do these verses make you feel? Why do you think it is important that these verses are a part of Ecclesiastes?

2. Read verses 4-6. What point is the Preacher making in these verses (see verse 4)? How do these verses help shape how you value and see life?

3. Read verses 7-10. There are three encouragements for life in these verses, what are they? What does God think about enjoying life and having fun? Are you a person who has fun in life? Why or why not? Which of the three encouragements about life do you need to apply most to your life? Why?

4. Read verses 11-12. What is the Preacher’s assessment on life? How do these verses compare and contrast to verses 1-3? Do you agree with the Preacher’s assessment? Why or why not?

5. Read verses 13-18. What do these verses teach about wisdom? How would you summarize these verses in one statement or sentence? Do you agree with the Preacher’s assessment about wisdom? Why or why not?

6. So what? What can you take away from this passage that convicts you of any sin in your life, affects your perspective on life or encourages you about the way you live?
