For the Next Lesson – Romans 16:25-27
Note: These three verses are the doxology, final exclamation of praise, that concludes the longest letter and most complete theological work of the apostle Paul.
1.Read verses 25-27 aloud. Who is the object of this doxology? What are some general things you learn about God? What is the main point of this doxology? Why do you think Paul ends this profound epistle to the Romans this way?
2.Read verse 25 again. What is God able to do? How does Paul’s Gospel strengthen us (see also Romans 2:16 and 2 Timothy 2:8)? What is the mystery described here (see Colossians 1:27)? Why is it called a mystery, and why is this mystery so important?
3.Read verse 26 again. Why is it significant that the mystery was disclosed through the prophetic writings (see also 1 Peter 1:12)? What did God command concerning the mystery that was revealed (see also Matthew 28:18-20)? What does God want for people, and what does this reveal about God’s heart? How should we participate in this command of God?
4.Read verse 27 again. What does glory mean? Take some time to list and discuss various ways we can give God glory. What stands in the way of us giving God glory? How can you grow in giving God glory in your life? Take a few moments to pray and praise God, give him glory for who He is and what He has done.
