For the Next Lesson
1. Read 2nd Timothy 1:8-12. Paul is encouraging Timothy not to be ashamed of the gospel. Thinking back on Paul’s life, try and give several reasons why Timothy might be ashamed or think that Paul might be ashamed. See 2nd Timothy 4:6-8 and 2nd Corinthians 11:22-27 for possible help.
2. What things cause you to be ashamed of the gospel or sharing the gospel with non-believers in the world in which we live today?
3. Read 2nd Timothy 1:12. Paul says he knows whom he has believed. Who is Paul talking about? What does it mean to actually know someone intimately? Describe your knowledge of the one in whom you believe?
4. Paul says he is “convinced”. How does someone become convinced of someone else’s abilities to do something? Thinking back on Paul’s life, how would he have become convinced that he could really trust God?
5. Try and list at least ten reasons why you are convinced of God’s power and love to keep what you’ve committed unto Him.
