study questions:

1. Read Luke 2:8-11. What three words are used to describe the new born baby the angel announced to the shepherds? Try and explain the significance of each of these words and why this brought such good news that God would use an angel to announce it.

2. Read Romans 3:21-23. Try and define God’s righteousness. According to verse 23, is anyone righteous in God’s eyes based on their own righteousness? In what ways is God’s righteousness inspiring, awesome and terrifying all at the same time? According to this passage, how is God’s righteousness made accessible to humans? Have you received this righteousness, if so when and how?

3. Read Romans 3:24-26. Define the words justified, grace, redemption and propitiation. Now using these definitions, explain in your own words what verses 24-26 mean.

4. Read 2nd Corinthians 5:17-21. According to this passage, what happens when someone puts their faith in Jesus Christ? Try and explain what that means. In what ways has this exemplified itself in your life? According to verse 21, what happened at the cross?

Using all that you have studied today explain why Jesus was the Savior, the Christ and the Lord as the angel said, and why Christ had to go to the cross.
